Partners in Protection Co-Located Advocate – Part-Time Hendry/Glades County
The Partners in Protection Co-Located Advocate will be co-located in the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Partners in Protection Investigation.
The Co-located Advocate serves as the expert on child welfare involved domestic violence cases and helps build the capacity of child welfare professionals to partner with survivors and hold batterers accountable through case staffings, case consultations, and staff training. Although the primary role of the Advocate 20 hours per week (16 hours at Partners in Protection Office and 4 hours at ACT Outreach Offices) is to serve as a consultant to the child welfare staff, the co-located advocate is also available to provide safety planning, advocacy, and on-going support services to domestic violence survivors. Direct services will not exceed 25% of the Advocate’s time on the Partners in Protection Project.

Sexual Assault Outreach Counselor
PURPOSE: 100% Provides crisis intervention, individual, family and group counseling; enrichment, case management, advocacy and other related services to victims of sexual assault. Maintains records. Provides follow-up and evaluates progress of clients.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides individual and group counseling for victims of sexual violence/assault.
Advocate for victims of sexual violence and their families, with law enforcement and other professionals as needed.Assist with the Sexual Assault deliverables (Facebook, Meeting with law enforcement, hospitals, colleges and universities, etc.)
Assist survivors and their families with necessary referrals.
Works with staff in identifying gaps in services and formulates specific interventions to address concerns.
Maintains appropriate records and reports in accordance with the policies and procedures of Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc., funding sources and as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.
Provide case management for clients.
Attends all monthly department and staff meetings.
Provide information and assistance with filing compensation claims.

SEXUAL ASSAULT NURSE EXAMINERS
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) is a registered nurse who has completed the requirements set forth by the International Association of Forensic Nurse to become a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). The Forensic Nurse will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault client. This may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up support, and participation in legal proceedings. The SANE is expected to follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or the Rape Crisis Center Director and policies of Abuse Counseling and Treatment Inc.
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Job Functions:
Respond to a call within 10 minutes, and to the facility within 1.0 hours of the initial hotline call.
- Perform a complete medical and forensic examination.
- Explain all options available to the patient so that he/she can make informed decisions.
- Collect evidence at the patient’s request, guided by the history given.
- Document detailed injuries accurately with support of photographic evidence.
- Maintain chain of custody to include evidence collected and the forensic medical records and adhere to release policy.
- Maintain professional standard including patient and medical record confidentiality.
- Administer appropriate medications per standing order protocols.
- Provide testimony as a fact or expert witness when subpoenaed, to any cases performed while with ACT and coordinate with attorneys during judicial process.
- Assess client needs, provide crisis intervention, and assist in safety planning.
- Adhere to departmental polices related to the care of sexual assault patients.
- Work collaboratively with program advocates, law enforcement and other community stakeholders
Requirements of Contract SANE Position Applicants:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of an ASN Registered Nurse.
- At a minimum, taken and passed the 41-hour Adult SANE online class given by the International Association of Forensic Nurses, or its equivalent.
- Have an active Florida RN license with no restrictions.
- Must live within one hour of the Rape Crisis Center.
- Have at least two years of direct patient care nursing experience preferred.
- Maintains CPR license and Auto Insurance.
- Able to work independently.
- Pass a criminal background check and Drug test
- Adhere to all requirements of the job description/contract.
