April 2022
We believe everyone in our community should know their options and rights after a sexual assault, including online sexual abuse and harassment.
We believe survivors of every gender should have access to ACT’s free, safe and confidential services.
We believe local partners who promote awareness can help create a violence-free community, especially online and in our digital spaces.
Every year, survivors, advocates, family and friends, and local organizations come together to recognize April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). SAAM is an opportunity to support local survivors, ensure everyone in our community knows where to get help after a sexual assault, and work together to change harmful norms and prevent abuse in Southwest Florida.
This year’s theme is Creating Safer Online Spaces. We hope to teach and inspire everyone to practice behaviors that promote safety, respect, inclusion, and accountability in online communities. ACT invites you to use your personal power to call out injustice, intervene when you notice behavior or content that causes harm, and promote safety and services for survivors of online sexual assault.
Follow ACT on Facebook, wear teal to bring awareness, attend a workshop, participate in community events, organize a donation drive, use our social media toolkit to be a SAAM Spokesperson, or volunteer! Check out our April Calendar for all SAAM events and Ways to Get Involved flyer below.
