It’s Time to Spread Our Wings
A metamorphosis is underway. In Southwest Florida, victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking and their children are finding a way forward, a new voice and a chance to spread their wings because of Abuse Counseling and Treatment Inc., (ACT). They are discovering ways to leave the danger, violence and fear that have ensnared them for so long and embrace new lives filled with hope, promise and opportunity.
For the past 10 years, The Second ACT Thrift Store has been a chrysalis of sorts for these victims, providing them with everything they need to begin anew. Not only is the store a major source of funding for ACT’s comprehensive services, it also gives the people in our shelters the chance to gain valuable work experience, clothing, furniture and other necessities they need for a new beginning. In the summer of 2019, we received devastating news the Second ACT Building was up to be sold. We nearly lost the building.
But we didn’t lose the building, and like butterflies, we are spreading our wings and setting out on a new journey to raise $2.4 million to purchase the thrift store’s building and continue guiding victims through their metamorphosis. We ask you to join us on this journey and be the light and love that guides us.

Monarch – $250,000
- Your name/corporate name on the front of the Second ACT Thrift Store building on US 41, i.e. “The Smith Second ACT Thrift Store”. This building gets 37,300 impressions each day.
- Opportunity to address the audience at the Spreading Our Wings VIP Social on Oct. 21, 2019.
- Corporate recognition as the title sponsor at the VIP Social.

Together We Soar
Your gift not only helps us purchase the building that is home to the Second ACT Thrift Store, but it also helps us continue to serve many other people who have stories like the one you just read. With the purchase of the building we will also expand our Outreach and Resource Center to this site. This will make it easy for our community to find information and resources, learn how to get help for themselves or a loved one experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault or human trafficking and learn about the programs and opportunities we offer daily at ACT.
